Pregnancy and the Nervous System: Frequently Asked Questions
Pregnancy is one of the most incredible transformations the body can experience.
As your baby grows, your body adapts in remarkable ways to support new life. Along with those changes can come new physical demands, discomforts, and questions about what's normal and how to best care for yourself throughout pregnancy.
At Precision Chiropractic, we believe pregnancy isn't something to simply "get through." It's a season to support, nurture, and prepare your body for birth and beyond.
Our doctors are Webster Certified, giving them advanced training in caring for pregnant women using a gentle, pregnancy-specific approach designed to support comfort, balance, and healthy nervous system function.
Below are answers to some of the questions we hear most often from expecting mothers.
Your Pregnancy Deserves Support
Pregnancy is a season of incredible change, and you don't have to navigate it alone.
Whether you're hoping for a more comfortable pregnancy, preparing your body for birth, or simply looking for a healthcare team that takes the time to listen, we're here for you.

Prenatal chiropractic care is chiropractic care specifically adapted for the changing needs of pregnancy.
As your baby grows, your center of gravity shifts, hormones soften ligaments, and your pelvis and spine begin adapting to prepare for birth. These normal changes can sometimes create stress on the joints, muscles, and nervous system.
Our goal is to help your body adapt to these changes as comfortably and efficiently as possible.
-
Yes.
Chiropractic care is generally considered safe during pregnancy when provided by a chiropractor with appropriate training in prenatal care.
At Precision Chiropractic, every adjustment is gentle, specific, and tailored to both your stage of pregnancy and your individual needs. We use pregnancy-specific tables and positioning techniques to keep you comfortable throughout your visit.
Your safety and your baby's safety are always our highest priorities.

The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment developed to support pelvic balance and nervous system function during pregnancy.
It focuses on identifying areas of restriction or imbalance within the pelvis and surrounding muscles and ligaments. The goal is to help the pelvis move and function as naturally as possible as your baby grows.
The Webster Technique is not a method for turning breech babies or inducing labor. Instead, it is designed to help reduce pelvic tension and create an environment that allows both mom and baby to function more comfortably.
Our doctors are proud to be Webster Certified through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA).
-
Throughout pregnancy, your pelvis provides support for both you and your growing baby.
When the pelvis moves well and surrounding muscles are balanced, it may help improve comfort, reduce unnecessary tension, and allow your body to better adapt to the physical changes of pregnancy.
Every pregnancy is different, and maintaining healthy movement can be an important part of supporting overall function.
-
Many pregnant women seek chiropractic care for common pregnancy-related discomforts such as:
Low back pain
Pelvic pain
Round ligament discomfort
Hip pain
Sciatica
Mid-back pain
Rib discomfort
Neck pain
Headaches
While every woman responds differently, many report feeling more comfortable and moving more easily throughout pregnancy after receiving chiropractic care.
-
Sciatica is common during pregnancy as your body changes and your growing baby places additional demands on your pelvis and lower back.
Our gentle, pregnancy-specific approach focuses on improving movement, reducing areas of restriction, and supporting healthy nervous system function to help your body adapt to these changes.
-
Many mothers ask this question.
The Webster Technique is not a treatment for breech presentation, nor is it designed to manually turn a baby.
Instead, it focuses on improving pelvic balance and reducing tension within the pelvis and surrounding soft tissues. A balanced pelvis may create an environment that allows baby to move more freely, but there is no guarantee that chiropractic care will change your baby's position.
If your baby is breech, we encourage you to continue working closely with your OB-GYN or midwife.
-
Your nervous system coordinates nearly every function in your body, including movement, hormone communication, muscle coordination, digestion, sleep, and your body's ability to adapt to physical and emotional stress.
As pregnancy places new demands on your body, supporting healthy nervous system function may help you adapt more comfortably throughout each trimester.
-
Many women begin care during the first trimester, while others start later in pregnancy as their body changes.
There is no "perfect" time to begin.
The earlier we can evaluate your nervous system and pelvic function, the more opportunity we have to support your body throughout the remainder of your pregnancy.
-
Yes.
Many women continue receiving care throughout pregnancy as their body continues changing.
Each visit is adapted to your stage of pregnancy, symptoms, comfort level, and individual needs.
-
One of the goals of prenatal chiropractic care is to help your body move and function as efficiently as possible.
While chiropractic cannot predict or guarantee labor outcomes, maintaining healthy pelvic motion, reducing unnecessary tension, and supporting nervous system function may help your body prepare for the natural demands of labor and delivery.
